project “No Contamine/ Don't Trash La Frontera” address the following Border 2012 goals:

Goal 3: Reduce Land Contamination:
By promoting the development of solid or hazardous waste and recycling programs.

Goal 6: Improve Environmental Performance though compliance, enforcement, pollution prevention and promotion of environmental stewardship:

By promoting the development of better environmental stewardship we’ll focus on creating appropriate sites for the disposition of solid or hazardous waste to appropriate landfills and become better stewards along this border region. 


PROJECT'S OBJECTIVES

A) Implement an International Educational/Awareness campaign “No Contamine/Don’t Trash La Frontera”.

B) Carry out three major cleanup campaigns on each side of the border, for a total of 6 region cleanups a year.

C) Establish an International Alliance to include state, federal, tribal, public and private (including the media) from both sides of the border.

D) Develop an International clearinghouse of English and Spanish Information Booklets regarding recycling, conservation, environmental stewardship.

E) Establish a community outreach program by working with a cadre of Community Outreach Workers/Promotoras de Salud.
